Investigation underway at railroad crossing

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Lanetown Road in Crozet was closed on Friday in relation to the investigation into Wednesday's deadly crash between an Amtrak train and a trash truck.

The road was closed between Railroad Avenue and Orchard Drive and reopened in the afternoon.

Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation and the National Transportation Safety Board were conducting tests on the tracks.

An Amtrak train was used in the investigation, and it went back and forth over the crossing multiple times. A Time Disposal garbage truck was also on the site.

Investigators on the scene declined to comment.
