Jail time for man involved in 2014 stabbing on the Corner

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- A Charlottesville man arrested in 2014 in connection to a stabbing on the Corner will serve jail time.

Fifty-nine-year-old Robert Sherwood Shrieves was sentenced in Charlottesville Court Tuesday .

Shrieves will serve a total of one year and four months in jail after he was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 18 years and eight months suspended.

Back in March 2016, Shrieves pleaded guilty to a malicious wounding charge.

The stabbing happened Aug. 19, 2014.

Witnesses say the victim was stabbed at least twice, and the wounds appeared to be serious.

That victim was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment but their identity was never released.

Shrieves was arrested next to the railroad tracks near the UVA Medical Center.
