CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- Two Jersey Mike's restaurants in Charlottesville have raised $12,213 for Piedmont CASA as part of a nationwide effort from the franchise called the Month of Giving.
The money will go toward recruiting and training volunteers who work as court advocates for abused and neglected children.
According to Piedmont CASA's president, donations go a long way to making a difference in the lives of children who have been through tragic experiences.
"We hope to let them know that there's a world out there and a place for them in it and help them begin the process of recovery and healing from what has already happened to help them go forward and hopefully not repeat the cycle," said Alicia Lenahan.
Through the month of March, Jersey Mike's restaurants across the country were able to raise a record-breaking $5.5 million.
