Local runners awarded for completing Cville-A-Thon

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va, (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Ragged Mountain Running Shop recognized people who have run up to a marathon's worth of miles in charity races on Saturday.

Runners got a Cville-A-Thon shirt for completing 26.2 miles or more. There were 75 runners completing in the Cville-A-Thon for 2017.

Owner Mark Lorenzoni said that these runners deserve it.

"It's to remind them just participating and supporting these local causes and getting out there, putting one foot in front of the other, and being dedicated throughout the year to racing one race a month or whatever it ends up being, that you get awarded for that,” said Lorenzoni.

He said you don't have to be a professional marathoner to achieve this award. Anyone can do it as long as they push themselves.
