CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Students from local high school showcased an exhibit inspired by the events of Aug. 12, 2017 the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative on Friday.
Friday was the first night of the exhibit.
The exhibit showcased art and writings from the chaotic events of that week as a way for the teens to express their thoughts about Aug. 12.
Francesca Grazioli, a junior at St. Anne's Belfield believes teens are often ignored whenever there are conversations about Aug. 12 and she wants that to change.
"We definitely do not have as much of a say as we should" said Grazioli. "We grew up here, we live here, this is our town and we just are not included in any of the conversations. For example, city council, why are teen voices never heard? I think it's really important that we have some say and at least share our opinions."
She hopes teens get an opportunity to speak with city leaders about being included in those discussions in the future.
The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of March.
