Man arrested for shooting into occupied vehicle

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Police Department says a man has been arrested for shooting into an occupied vehicle at a gas station earlier this month.

According to police, 25-year-old Octavius Deshawn Eubanks was arrested Thursday on charges of attempted malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle, brandishing a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is also facing a charge for violating a city ordinance concerning discharging a firearm.

Police say the incident occurred on May 8 around 11:40 p.m. at the 7-11/Exxon at the corner of Emmet Street and Hydraulic Road.

Police officers responded to reports of a shooting and witnesses said a man fired a handgun into an occupied vehicle that was in the parking lot at the time.

No one in the vehicle was hurt.

Eubanks was arrested on Leonard Street and is being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
