Virginia State Police

The Virginia State Police reports the crash occurred around 6:10 a.m. on Brocks Gap Road about a mile west of the intersection with Bergton Road and within the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest.

According to police, a 2008 Mack tractor trailer was heading west on Brocks Gap Road when it crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road, and hit a parked vehicle and a tree.

The truck then overturned before it hit a house.

Both the home and the parked vehicle were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Police say 37-year-old Ralph D. Herman of Roseland was wearing a seat belt but was flown to the University of Virginia Health System with serious injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Rockingham County and Bergton fire and rescue departments.
