RAPIDAN, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An Orange County man is dead following a mining accident at a quarry in Culpeper County.

The Culpeper County Sheriff's Office said the accident was reported at the Jet Mist Quarry near Rapidan around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said 26-year-old Rony Ordonez, of Orange, was killed when a rock fell on top of him.

Deputies said his body was recovered around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, nearly seven hours later.

It appeared the quarry was operating as usual on Friday, as two workers were seen leaving the site on heavy equipment.
