Orange County native announces run to be Commonwealth's Attorney

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A local criminal defense attorney wants to be Orange County's next Commonwealth's Attorney.

S. Page Higginbotham III announced his campaign for the job on Thursday, saying he wants to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather who served as the county's Commonwealth's Attorney for 27 years. his father also practiced law in the country for more than 40 years.

"I learned from my father and grandfather that everyone deserves respect and a fair trial. I also learned that you fight hard to get the right result," said Higginbotham. "I will fight for the people of Orange."

The University of Richmond alumnus attended Woodberry Forest School and grew up on the family's beef cattle farm.

He would attend court with his father and grandfather when he was younger.

Before becoming a lawyer, Higginbotham worked in the local wine industry and ran a grass-fed beef business and retail store.
