Orange County man struck by freight train

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a freight train Thursday evening in Orange.

The Virginia State Police said 63-year-old Ronald E. Snead of Orange was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said Snead was crossing the tracks near May Fray Avenue and Barbour Street when he was struck by the southbound Norfolk Southern train.

Train traffic was stopped during the investigation.
