Outdoor pools set to open for summer season

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Department of Parks and Recreation says the outdoor pools will be opening for the summer season this Saturday.

Each pool has a fee, and visitors can pay either a daily admission or buy a summer outdoor pool pass, which gives the person unlimited access to both pools for the summer season.

For the first couple of weeks during the season, the pools will only be open on the weekends, but they will open daily beginning June 8.

This weekend, the Onesty Family Aquatic Center and the Washington Park Pool will both be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

They will then close for the weekdays and reopen on June 1 and 2.

After June 8, they will be open seven days a week, except for the Wednesday closure of the Onesty Family Aquatic Center.

Some other Parks and Rec facilities will be open on Memorial Day, including the Carver Recreation Center, the Smith Aquatic and Fitness Center, the Key Recreation Center, the Tonsler Recreation Center, and the spray grounds.
