Overnight closures at major Orange County intersection

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Work to improve an Orange County intersection will cause overnight closures for two days next week.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says the work is at the intersection of Germanna Highway and Constitution Highway in Wilderness.

The crossover will be closed overnight on April 15 and 16 so crews can install a pipe.

VDOT says the left turn lanes onto Germanna Highway will also be closed.

The closure will last from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

While the crossover is closed, drivers should use the median crossovers just east and west of Constitution Highway to make U-turns.

VDOT says the work includes offsetting the left-turn lanes in both directions as well as upgrades to the traffic signal to provide for better traffic flow on Germanna Highway.

The work is expected to be finished by late in May.
