CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A local fuel company has announced a partnership with an organization that supports reforestation.

The Markets of Tiger Fuel Company and Green Gas are working together to encourage consumers to reverse the environmental impacts of their cars by donating through an on-pump prompt.

Donations would go to GreenTrees, a leading reforestation carbon program in North America.

Green Gas, a nonprofit that partners with fuel retailers and provides carbon neutral fuel solutions, says that a $1 donation through the pumps can help absorb 190 pounds of carbon emissions.

The Market is the first gas station chain in Virginia to support the Green Gas project on its pumps, and this partnership is part of an ongoing commitment by Tiger Fuel to support sustainable practices.

The on-pump donation option is available at all of the Markets' locations in the Charlottesville area, including the ones on Fifth Street, Parham Circle, Ivy Road, Cherry Avenue, Richmond Road and Preston Avenue in Charlottesville.

On-pump donations can also be made at the market locations on Turkey Sag in Palmyra and Constitution Highway in Locust Grove.

The Market is offering a free coffee to anyone who donates.
