Performer change for upcoming Heritage Theatre Festival play

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The actress playing the lead role in the upcoming production of “Steel Magnolias” at the Heritage Theatre Festival has changed.

The festival says renowned actress and four-time Paralympics champion Katy Sullivan will take on the role of Truvy.

Sullivan is a bilateral amputee who has performed across the country who has been the U.S. champion in the 100-meter race four times.

She was one of the first bilateral amputees to compete in the Paralympics in ambulatory track in the 2012 games in London.

Sullivan is replacing Jessica Rosseland Dean as Truvy.

“Steel Magnolias” will open on July 25.
