Police say Louisa man killed in Madison County crash

MADISON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia State Police reports a man from Louisa was killed in a Sunday afternoon crash in Madison County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 1:25 p.m. on Orange Road at the South Blue Ridge Turnpike intersection.

Police say a 2005 Saturn Ion, driven by 39-year-old Richard S. Pregnall of Louisa, was heading north on South Blue Ridge Turnpike when it did not stop at a stop sign and hit a westbound 2015 Toyota Tundra.

The crash caused the Ion to hit a building before it stopped. The building was not occupied at the time of the crash.

Pregnall, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash.

The 45-year-old man from Culpeper who was driving the Toyota was not hurt.

The crash is still under investigation.
