Price hike planned for National Park Service senior pass

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- The cost of visiting National Parks for seniors is going up.

The senior lifetime pass has long cost $10 for those over 62 to gain access to the 417 parks of the National Park Service, including Shenandoah National Park.

That price is soon jumping to $80, according to National Park Service spokesperson Tom Crosson.

Crosson said the price hike is a result of the Centennial Legislation passed last year. The NPS will announce the date and more details in the near future.
