ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Work to clear debris from an Albemarle County bridge has wrapped up days ahead of schedule.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says the bridge over the Rivanna River on Proffit Road reopened Tuesday afternoon.

The bridge was supposed to be closed all week while crews worked to remove debris that had washed up against the bridge in recent storms.

The work is to reduce the risk of flooding in future storms.
