CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- On Wednesday, Relay Foods and Colorado-based Door to Door Organics announced they are combining forces to become on giant company.

The new company will continue to provide localized groceries through their online store platform.

According to the president of the new company, Derek Mansfield, the merger moved very fast.

Mansfield says talks on the merger only started about six months ago, at the start of the new year.

Specific financials of the new merger were not discussed, but Mansfield did say the new company will be looking to hire.

"We'll be entering multiple new markets, we'll be expanding our offerings significantly, this is a growth story," said Mansfield. "We're coming from places of strength on both sides and we're hoping together we can actually accelerate that growth."

He says that the rapid growth would more than likely mean they would need more people in the office to help.

As the new national brand grows, Mansfield says headquarters will stay the same with bases in Colorado and Charlottesville.

As for the name of the new company, Mansfield says his team is still working on ideas.
