Senator Mark Warner talks tech in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- U.S. Senator Mark Warner joined Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer at a special meeting of the Mayor's Advisory Council on Innovations and Technology.

Dozens of local entrepreneurs came out for lunch and a round table discussion with Warner, who said areas of growth exist across the country in cybersecurity and Internet connected toys.

Signer said he hopes to attract new businesses to the area without changing how it feels to live in Charlottesville.

The question, he said, is "how to get the balance right and how to keep the core of what we love about Charlottesville strong as we go forward with growth and change."

Warner also said there are about 18,000 unfilled cyber jobs in Virginia.
