CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The fourth-annual Logan's Fun Fest will be a day filled with everything Logan loved most, the color orange, good food and of course lots of fun activities.
"Logan loved to play, and like I said, he was very fun, adventurous, and silly. And so, the Fest is essentially a carnival to be enjoyed by children and families," Dr. Margo Gill, Logan’s mother said.
Gill came up with the idea to honor him in a fun way that brings families and the community closer to each other and to Logan.
The event will include activities like face painting, a bounce house, crafts, auctions and a chance to meet with local firefighters.
"It's a time they get to play with Logan, in a sense, instead of without him, or trying to smile and have fun even though he is not there, where they can remember and enjoy him in a very fun-filled and honest way," Gill said.
There will also be an opportunity to learn more about organ donation and how to sign up to be a donor, like Logan was.
All of the Fun Fest’s proceeds will go toward the LifeNet Health Foundation, which helped the Gill family through that process.
You can also make a contribution to LifeNet Health by shopping at Vineyard Vines on May 16, where a percentage of the proceeds will go toward the foundation.
"You got to love every second, every minute, of every hour, of every day and to really focus on what's important and enjoy as much as you can," Gill said.
Logan's Fun Fest is free and open to the public. It will be held May 18 at Broadus Wood Elementary School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
