ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- There is now an opportunity where visitors can snuggle with more than 80 goats at one local farm, which some say can be beneficial for the animals.
"It actually has a lot of therapeutic benefits for the doe when she gets older," said Gail Hobbs Page, the owner of Caromont Farm. "They're much easier to handle. It's a very easy transition into becoming a productive, milking animal."
Page added that snuggling also helps with the animal's general health.
"The less stressed out an animal is, the happier the animal is," she said.
Caromont Farm snuggle sessions will run once a week until May when the weather gets too hot for the animals. However, the chance to snuggle is a competitive opportunity. There are only 150 tickets per session and visitors must register online ahead of time.
"We had tried to get sessions earlier but they were all sold out," said Lynn Moseby, who was initially put on a wait list to attend the session. "So they had sent me an email that they had opened up a new session."
However, Moseby said it was worth the wait and the 90-minute drive she took out to the farm to snuggle with the goats.
"Our kids are going to be really upset because they're in school, but we had a ball," she said. "It was cheaper than therapy."
