St. Patrick's Day Extravaganza raises money for WTJU 91.1 FM

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The community started its St. Patrick's Day celebrations early with an extravaganza at IX Art Park Saturday afternoon.

The event invited people to enjoy live music, food from Three Notch'd Brewery, and drinks.

The event was free, but a portion of the proceeds from food and drink sales went toward helping WTJU, a local radio station, with the move into a new studio.

Kerry Reichhardt from WTJU said the event is a great way to kick off the St. Patrick's Day weekend while helping their station with final preparations for the move.

"We're having to raise a lot of money on our own just to make the move happen. Obviously, we're already part of the way through it, so it's just making ends meet," said Reichhardt. "It's really great to do it here at IX and with Three Notch'd too and just having this St. Patrick's Day extravaganza."

Reichhardt said the station will be moving into the new studio on March 23.

An open house will be on March 30.
