Summit on housing and homelessness coming to Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Regional Housing Partnership of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission will be hosting a summit on housing and homelessness next week.

The Opening the Door Regional housing and Homelessness Summit will be held April 19 at the Omni Hotel.

Elected officials and leaders from the public, the private and the nonprofit sectors will be on hand to talk about policy and programmatic tools that are designed to open doors to housing opportunities.

The summit, which begins at 8:30 a.m., will include information sharing, discussion and networking, and efforts to address housing challenges in the region.

It is sponsored by the Virginia Housing Development Authority, the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS, the University of Virginia, Bramante Homes Inc, Park Properties Management Co., Pinnacle Construction and Development Corporation, and Stony Point Design/Build as well as Fluvanna County and the UVA Community Credit Union.
