Teen Health Center hosts first health week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia Teen and Young Adult Health Center at the UVA Medical Center is hosting its first health week to raise awareness about the different aspects of health in adolescents.

Several workshops and seminars will take place throughout the week focusing on areas including mental health, preventative care, and nutrition.

Mary Sullivan works on advocacy, outreach and education at the Teen Health Center.

She said Teen Health Week symbolizes the center's mission, which is to provide the best care for teenagers in the community.

"We've been open for 28 years and we're a go-to place for teens in our community. I think anybody who works with adolescents really has to appreciate, love and respect them," Sullivan said. "I think we've been doing that really really well here."
