CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Festival is coming up at the end of April, and people who want to get tickets early can do so starting Friday.
This is the second year the festival will last for seven days, celebrating the best wines in the Monticello American Viticultural Area.
The festival will run from April 29 to May 5 with events being held at various locations on the Downtown Mall, area wineries and restaurants.
The festival is a partnership between the Monticello Wine Trail, Sprint Pavilion, and Vault Virginia.
“The Taste of Monticello Wine Trail Festival is a great opportunity to experience all of what the Monticello AVA has to offer,” said George Hodson, the president of the Monticello Wine Trail. “Expanding the festival from three to seven days allowed us to schedule a wider variety of events so guests can create an itinerary that matches their personal tastes.”
There are 29 participating regional wineries and vineyards this year, including Afton Mountain Vineyards, Barboursville Vineyards, Blenheim Vineyards, Burnley Vineyards, Cardinal Point Vineyard and Winery, Chestnut Oak Vineyard, Cunningham Creek Winery, Delfosse Vineyard and Winery, Early Mountain Vineyards, First Colony Winery, Flying Fox Vineyard, Gabriele Rausse Winery, Glass House Winery, Grace Estate Winery, Horton Vineyards, Jefferson Vineyards, Keswick Vineyards, Kilaurwen Winery, King Family Vineyards, Loving Cup Vineyard and Winery, Lovingston Winery, Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyards, Reynard Florence Vineyard, Stinson Vineyards, Stone Mountain Vineyards, Thistle Gay Vineyard, Trump Winery, Veritas Vineyard and Winery, and Wisdom Oak Winery.
The festival will kick off April 29 with the Monticello Cup Awards.
Other events will include winemaker dinners, winery tours and tastings, the Grand Tasting, and more.
It culminates with the Fourth Annual Sparkling Brunch on May 5, which will be held at Veritas Vineyard and Winery this year.
