CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Going to the doctor is about to get easier for hundreds of employees in Charlottesville.
Tiger Fuel Company and S.L. Williamson Asphalt Paving Company are partnering with CareTeam, a company that provides onsite healthcare, to open a new health center dedicated to their employees.
The new River Road facility held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday
It will provide preventative and primary care to Tiger Fuel and S.L. Williamson employees and their families.
Employees will be able to schedule appointments and be seen by a full-time nurse practitioner at a low cost.
Tiger Fuel President Gordon Sutton said it is rare for small companies to have a facility like this, but that it will help employees live healthier lives.
"Getting appointments with primary care physicians can take as much as two to three weeks and you show up and you sit around for a couple hours waiting on your doc. This is a much higher level of service. Great accessibility for our employees," Sutton said.
He also said it will help recruit and retain employees.
The center is holding open houses for employees this week and officially opens on Feb. 18.
