Toscano canvasses voters ahead of June primary

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- Delegate David Toscano (D-Virginia 57th) spent Saturday afternoon knocking on doors in Belmont to rally voters ahead of the June 13 primary election.

Toscano serves Virginia's 57th District, which is a position he's held since 2005.

This year is a little different because Ross Mittiga (D) is challenging Toscano for his seat, which is his first challenger in a primary since he ran.

Toscano says he is glad to see a little bit of competition.

"It makes me a better candidate and forces me to do some things to get out and talk to the voters," said Toscano. "I'm going to reconnect with people I haven't seen in awhile and motivate them to get to the polls on June 13 and vote for me."

Toscano also wants voters to know he has worked hard to bring change to his district and wants to keep working for Virginia.
