UVA Police Department chief on paid leave

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- University of Virginia Police Chief Tommye Sutton has been placed on paid leave, according to university spokesperson Wes Hester.

Hester said he could not provide any other details because it is a personnel matter.

Sutton took over as UVA Police Chief on Aug. 1, 2018. Before coming to UVA, he worked as deputy chief of police at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
