Virginia Film Festival announces Family Day films

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia Film Festival will be presenting its popular Family Day again this year.

It will take place Nov. 11 on the University of Virginia Arts Grounds.

This year, Family Day will feature The Aristocats and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as well as interactive arts workshops.

The film screenings will begin at 10 a.m. at the Culbreth Theater.

The workshops will be led by UVA and community-based arts professionals, and there will also be a premier of films made by more than 500 local students as part of the VFF's Young Filmmakers Academy.

There will also be several arts workshops requiring advance registration, including Five Ways to Begin a Screenplay, How Theater Works: Behind the Scenes Tour, Joey Stories, Kids Acting Out, the Lessac Orchestra: Tuning Our Vocal Instrument, the Magical World of Ballet, Movin' and Groovin', and Where's the Bag?: Making Strong Choices in Directing and Acting.

The Virginia Film Festival will take place Nov. 9 through 12 at a variety of venues around UVA, the Downtown Mall and other parts of Charlottesville.
