Bennett: 'Respectfully decline' White House invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The 2019 NCAA National Champion Virginia Cavalier men's basketball team will not be visiting the White House, according to a statement from Coach Tony Bennett.

After some speculation, Bennett released a statement on Thursday night saying the team would have to "respectfully decline the invitation."

The Cavaliers coach said, "With several players either pursuing pro opportunities or moving on from UVA, it would be difficult, if not impossible to get everyone back together."

Just a couple weeks after the Wahoos lifted the trophy in Minneapolis after being Texas Tech in the championship game, four players have declared for the draft, along with one graduating and another putting their name in the transfer portal.

Guards De'Andre Hunter, Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy have all declared for the draft and will keep their names in. Forward Mamadi Diakite also declared for the draft but is still eligible to return. Marco Anthony announced earlier this week he entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
