Cavaliers earn No. 6 seed in NCAA Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- For the first time since 2015, the Virginia women's lacrosse team will host the first weekend of the NCAA tournament.

The Wahoos are the number six national seed in the NCAA Tournament and will host the winner of Navy and High Point on Sunday. Navy and High Point will play on Friday at Klockner Stadium.

Virginia finished the regular season 12-6, 3-4 in ACC play, but with the third toughest schedule in the country, the Wahoos earned a national seed. The Cavaliers lost in the ACC quarterfinals to Syracuse.

The Cavaliers have not advanced past the second round of the NCAA Tournament since 2014, the last time the team was a national seed, also seeded sixth.
