Conrad wins Senior CLASS award

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Ryan Conrad can add another award to his trophy case. The senior midfielder was named the Senior CLASS award winner for men's lacrosse Friday.

The Senior CLASS award is given to a senior who shows excellence on the field, in the classroom, character and in the community. Conrad is the first Cavalier men's lacrosse player to win the award.

He is a member of the McIntire School of Commerce and was co-president of the Student Athletes Committed to Honor. Conrad also works with Special Olympics and the Salvation Army.

Conrad was named first-team All-American Thursday by the USILA and was the MVP of the ACC tournament. He missed most of last season with a torn ACL.

The midfielder is the only player in the country with 11 points and 70 groundballs. Conrad and the rest of the Cavaliers will face Duke in the NCAA semifinals Saturday.
