Current and former Wahoos keeping it local

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Players like former Virginia soccer standout Simeon Okoro playing for CVille Alliance with other former and current Wahoos was a match that made too much sense.

"Being in Charlottesville, staying here, I know the place, I know the place well," Okoro said, "UVA is high intensity when we train there, it's high intensity when we train here, so it's not much of a drop off so we just keep going. It's like we never left really."

Okoro, who wrapped up his UVA career in the fall, is joined by fellow classmate Kennedy Nwabia on this summer's CVille Alliance squad. Also in the team are current UVA players Henry Kessler and Albemarle's Ben Grant. Kessler's brother Reed will also suit up for Alliance this summer before taking the field with the Cavaliers in the fall.

Nwabia scored the game clinching goal in Sunday's win over FC Baltimore, CVille Alliance's first win of the season. The former Wahoo says having his former teammates on the pitch brings a level of familiarity.

"Having Simeon and Ben, Reed, Kessler the team chemistry just comes in to play. They know what I can do, I know what they can do," Nwabia said, "The team chemistry, the combination, team play, we get along easily.
