CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The Virginia men's and women's track and field teams put together a strong effort on day two of the ACC Track and Field Championships with four athletes winning ACC titles.
Virginia thrower Hilmar Jonsson made history in the hammer throw becoming the first competitor to win the ACC title in the event four years in a row with a throw of 72.84m. Fellow thrower Oghenakpobo Efekoro claimed the ACC title in men's shot put with a throw of 19.32m for his first ever ACC title.
On the men's high jump, the Cavaliers' Brenton Foster set a new school record and won the ACC title with a jump of 2.23m. Foster broke the record previously shared by Greg Byers and Herman Moore.
On the women's side, Bridget Guy walked away with her second straight ACC Championship winning the pole vault with a vault of 4.32m.
The Virginia men lead in the standings heading into day three, while the women are tied for third place with Notre Dame.
