Brown will be back on Liberty staff this season

LYNCHBURG, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Mike Brown will be back for a second season on the coaching staff at Liberty this football season.

New Flames head coach Hugh Freeze announced his first full coaching staff on Friday. It includes Brown at running backs coach, the position he filled at his alma mater last year under Turner Gill, who stepped down following the season.

A graduate of Monticello High School, Brown was an All-American at both quarterback and wide receiver as a player for Liberty. He spent three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars before transitioning into coaches, with stops at Michigan, Delaware and Western Illinois before joining Gill's staff last summer.

Liberty running back Frankie Hickson ran for 1,032 yards under Brown's tutelage last season.
