CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- After some early inning fireworks from the Tom Sox, the Waynesboro Generals rallied in the ninth to win 7-6 in annual Fourth of July clash.
The Generals got off to a quick start with two runs in the top of the first. But the Tom Sox answered in the bottom of the first, starting with an RBI-triple from Thomas Francisco. After an RBI-single to tie the game at 2-2, Virginia's Christian Hlinka hit a two-run home run to give the Tom Sox a 4-2 lead.
The Tom Sox lead the rest of the way until the bottom of the ninth, when the Generals' Gunner Peterson drew a walk with the bases loaded to walk-in the winning run.
With the loss, the Tom Sox fall to 0-4 all-time on the Fourth of July. The Tom Sox are at home again on Friday night to play the Staunton Braves at 7 p.m.
