Hokies focused on finishing in Military Bowl

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia Tech finished the regular season with back-to-back wins to become bowl eligible for a 26th straight season. Now the Hokies are focused on finishing the season the right way.

Head coach Justin Fuente emphasized how important it is to finish the season with a win, something the Hokies have done 12 times over the course of their bowl streak.

"You know, I think we've finished off the regular season," Fuente said, "now its time to kind of complete the mission of finishing this thing off the right way. Its what we've talked about."

Sitting at 4-6 heading into what was supposed to be the regular season finale against Virginia, the Hokies beat the Cavaliers, then beat Marshall to become bowl eligible. Fuente said the team has shown what it takes to finish strong, now its a matter of doing that in Monday's bowl game.

"You know, there are a lot of things at stake," he said, "in terms of our senior class, in terms of winning record and all those sorts of things, but for us about finishing."

It is a noon kickoff Monday in the Military Bowl.
