CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Its been about two months since Anna Redding received her invitation to play in the Augusta Women's Amateur this week. She says its started to settle in what she's about to embark on this week.
"Just with all the hype around it," Redding said. "With everything that's going on, I'm just so excited."
Redding is one of 72 amateurs set to play in the field for the first ever women's amateur event at the home of the Masters. She will tee of at 9:24 a.m. from the first tee at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Georgia and be paired with USC’s Alyaa Abdulghany and Yu-Sang Hou from Chinese Taipei.
The first two rounds will be played in Evans, Georgia with the top 30 scorers advancing to the final round at Augusta to be played on Saturday. Everyone will receive a practice round on the Augusta course on Friday.
"The entire week is just so special," she said. "We have, they're putting on dinners for us and a champions dinner. They're really treating us like professionals this week. That's incredible. I'm just so honored that I get to be a part of it. Its just incredible. That's just the word that always comes to mind. This week, its just going to be incredible."
