'Hoos extend win streak to six, beat Richmond

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Virginia closed out a perfect homestand Wednesday afternoon, beating Richmond 5-1 to finish 6-0 on the homestand.

Nic Kent and Tanner Morris went back-to-back with RBIs in the second inning to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead, a lead the Wahoos would never surrender. Kent went 2-3 with a run and an RBI for his fourth multi-hit performance in five game.

Cam Simmons finished 2-4 with two RBIs in the fourth inning to highlights a three run frame.

Six pitchers combined to allow just one run on five hits in the game. Blake Bales made his first career start, allowing one run in two innings of work. Billy Price, Grant Donahue, Riley Wilson, Devin Ortiz and Kyle Whitten combined for seven innings of shutout relief to close the game.

Virginia hits the road for an ACC series at NC State this weekend. The Wolfpack are off to a 25-1 start to the season.
