CHAPEL HILL, NC (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Ashton McGee hit a bases loaded single to left and scored the winning run for North Carolina as the Tar Heels walked off against Virginia 5-4 Saturday.
Andrew Abbott walked the bases loaded in the ninth before McGee's game-winning hit, snapping a four-game winning streak for the Cavaliers.
Chesdin Harrington starred on the mound for the Wahoos, pitching a career-high five innings of shutout relief. He sat down the last nine batters he faced.
Tanner Morris, Zack Gelof and Nate Eikhoff all recorded two hit performances for the Cavaliers. Cam Simmons drove in two runs with a first inning triple.
Starting pitcher Griff McGarry struggled with his command, pitching into the third inning without recording an out. McGarry allowed four runs on four hits to go along with six walks.
The rubber match of the series is Sunday.
