Hot start pushes UVA past Duke

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- (8) Virginia outscored (13) Duke 12-4 in the first half before winning 17-12 to cruise to their first ACC win of the season.

The Cavaliers opened the game scoring six goals in the game's first 10 minutes and after a Duke goal, Virginia added four more in a dominant first half. The Blue Devils came out of halftime hot scoring three straight, but Virginia was able to hold off the Blue Devils to win 17-12.

Maggie Jackson lead the Wahoos with four goals, while Ashlyn McGovern and Lillie Kloak added three goals a piece.

Virginia will look to pick up their third straight win next Saturday at Boston College.
