Irish score at buzzer to oust 'Hoos from tournament

SOUTH BEND, In. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Notre Dame's Jack Lynn headed home the game-winning goal as the first overtime period ended to give the Irish a 1-0 win over Virginia in Sunday's NCAA tournament second round.

After playing to a scoreless tie during the regular season, the teams looked to be heading to another two overtime battle when Notre Dame sent a high kick into the box and Lynn headed home the only goal of the contest.

Notre Dame advances to the Sweet 16 where the Irish will face top-seed Indiana.

The Cavaliers got 11 shots off against Notre Dame, but Irish goalkeeper Duncan Turnbull was credited with three saves in the contest for the clean sheet.

Marcel DaSilva was making his second start in goal for the Cavaiers. He was credited with one save. Virginia's season comes to an end with a record of 10-4-3.
