Kraus lifts Virginia past Brown in another overtime thriller

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A Michael Kraus overtime goal gives (12) Virginia a 14-13 win over Brown and their third straight win in overtime.

The Cavaliers trailed by three goals with under seven minutes to play in the game before getting goal from Ian Laviano and Matt Moore to make it 13-12. Then a Brown penalty on the ensuing faceoff allowed Kraus to tie the game at 13-13 to force overtime.

In overtime Brown was able to stop Virginia on two different possessions, but failed to clear setting up another Cavalier possession. Mikey Herring fed Kraus with 1:02 left in overtime for the sudden death goal to hand Virginia the win.

The Cavaliers previously beat Princeton and Syracuse on the road in overtime leading into Sunday's game. This was the third time Virginia has played three straight overtime games, but the first time in program history to win three straight.

Kraus lead the way with five goals and two assists, while Laviano finished with four goals.

Virginia stays at Klöckner Stadium for their next game against ACC opponent Notre Dame next Saturday.
