London adds two more former 'Hoos to W&M staff

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Mike London has completed his first coaching staff at William & Mary - and it includes his former quarterback at Virginia.

William & Mary announced on Monday that Matt Johns will coach the Tribe's inside receivers and tight ends this season. Another former UVA player, Keenan Carter, will be the Tribe's defensive line coach.

Johns spent last season as a graduate assistant coach with the defense at UVA. As a player, he started all 12 games at quarterback for London's final season at UVA in 2015. For his career, Johns ranks 11th on UVA's all-time passing list (4,233 yards) and sixth in passing touchdowns (30).

Carter was London's defensive line coach at Howard the past two seasons, and also spent two seasons coaching the defensive line at Bridgewater. He was a two-year starter at nose guard at UVA.

Johns and Carter are the latest additions to London's first William & Mary staff to have connections to UVA, where London was head coach from 2010-15. Defensive coordinator Vincent Brown was on London's coaching staff at UVA, while special teams coordinator Josh Zidenberg and cornerbacks coach Ras-I Dowling both played at UVA while London was an assistant at the school.

William & Mary will visit Scott Stadium to face UVA on September 6.
