ORANGE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- A memorial website for Orange County High School graduate Darius Minor has already surpassed its initial fundraising goal.

Minor graduated from Orange County in May, and was supposed to play college football at Maine -- but died after collapsing during a supervised freshman workout on Tuesday.

His family started a GoFundMe page on Thursday, with donations helping his mother with funeral expenses. The initial goal was to raise $15,000.

By late Friday afternoon, the site had already raised more than $25,000 in donations, aided in large part by Boston Red Sox Vice Chairman Phillip H. Morse. A Maine alum, Morse donated $10,000 to the memorial fun on Friday afternoon.
