Rhoads resigns as Madison football coach

MADISON, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Madison County High School will have a new football coach next season.

Chandler Rhoads has stepped down as head coach of the Mountaineers, the school announced Tuesday morning on Twitter. Rhoads went 5-15 in his two seasons as head coach at Madison, including a 3-7 season in 2018.

Before getting promoted to head coach in 2016, Rhoads spent two seasons as an assistant under Stuart Dean, who coached the Mountaineers for 12 seasons. Madison went 5-5 and advanced to the second round of the playoffs in Dean's final season. It's the program's lone postseason appearance of the past five seasons.
