Three Saints sign to play in college

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS 19 SPORTS) -- Nic Kent grew up going to Virginia baseball games and camps. After signing with the Cavaliers Monday, the shortstop will be playing at Davenport Field.

Kent, along with Javon Johnson and Sierra Smith all signed their National Letter of Intent Monday afternoon at a ceremony at St. Anne's Belfield.

Johnson finally made his commitment to Michigan's lacrosse program official after verbally committing after his freshman year with the Saints.

"I've been committed since the summer of my freshman year," he said. "So, its been a long process to get to this point. After signing today I think that, you know, its in writing."

Smith will join Hartford University's basketball team. She said she knew Hartford was the place for her during her official visit.

"When I first got there, I was like, this is where I want to be," Smith said. "I texted my mom and I was like "Mom, I love it so much. I just knew. I don't know what it was honestly. I just felt it in my heart."

Kent will become the third Saint on the Cavaliers baseball team next year, joining Jalen Harrison and Bobby Nicholson.
