STAB's Shellenberger ranked No. 1 sophomore in country

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- According to Inside Lacrosse magazine, the best sophomore boys lacrosse player can be found here in Central Virginia.

St. Anne's-Belfield attackman Connor Shellenberger is at No. 1 in the publication's national sophomore rankings. Shellenberger helped STAB reach the VISAA state title game as a freshman this past spring, finishing the season with 21 goals and 18 assists for the Saints.

"No other player in his class right now is as polished offensively as he is," Inside Lacrosse wrote of Shellenberger. "He can shake defenders with a variety of moves, sting corners on the run and feed assists."

“Connor is an outstanding student athlete who has worked incredibly hard to earn this distinction," STAB coach Bo Perriello said in a release issued by the school on Thursday touting Shellenberger's national ranking.

Shellenberger has been verbally committed to Johns Hopkins since July 2015, prior to his freshman season with the Saints.
