CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Mikey Herring scored a career-high six goals and Ryan Conrad added five as Virginia raced past Robert Morris in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament 19-10 Saturday night.
The win was the first for the program in the NCAA Tournament since 2012, snapping a program-long four game tournament losing streak.
Matt Moore added a career-high seven assists a career-high nine points in the win. Michael Kraus added three goals and three assists in the win.
Dox Aitken added two goals and Ian Laviano scored one.
Virginia scored the first three goals and seven of the first nine. Herring added a personal 3-0 spanning the third and four quarters to give the Wahoos a 16-7 lead with 11:13 left.
Virginia will face the winner of (6) Towson and Maryland next Saturday in Hempstead, NY. The Tigers and Terrapins play Sunday.
