STANARDSVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- No matter the time of year, you don't have to look far to find Alex Kinsey playing a sport at William Monroe.
"He's a heck of a baseball player," said William Monroe football coach Jon Rocha, "a heck of a football player, a heck of a basketball player. He's Mr. Monroe here.
"I've grown up playing sports my whole life," Kinsey said. "I mean, I don't know anything different. It's what's kept on track in school and life. It's just made me the person I am today."
The starting quarterback, point guard and center fielder for the Green Dragons, Kinsey had two main goals heading into his senior year: win and grow as a leader.
"I didn't like to speak up in front of people," he said. "I liked to lead by action. As I've grown these past couple years, I've learned to grow by speaking and grow by words."
"He just does what's asked of him and he gets out there and he competes," Rocha added. "In the huddle, there was no questions asked. He was the leader on that field."
Kinsey carries a 4.3 grade point average into his final semester of high school. That helped him learn a new offense in the preseason for William Monroe, and a different one in the middle of the season when things weren't working on the football field.
For his performance, Kinsey was named part of the Northwestern District first team as an all-purpose back.
"He's totally committed to it," Rocha said. "Competitor. That's probably he's biggest feature is how competitive he is. He gives everything."
Giving his all to everything he does, is all Kinsey knows how to do.
"I gave my all every game," Kinsey said. "Everything I did, it was for my team, it was for the people in the stands, it was for myself. I just gave my all."
"Whatever he touches," Rocha added, "whether its basketball, whether its football, whether its school, he's going to be successful at whatever he does. That's just, that's just Alex."
